Authentic Wedding: Cailin & Andrew’s Yellowknife ElopementWe love intimate weddings. We love Northern Canada. And we love when couples aren’t afraid to be true to themselves. The minute we saw this amazing little wedding by Dave Brosha, we fell in love. In love with the pictures, in love the photographer, in love with the scene, in love with the idea, in love with the details (hello shoes! dress! fascinator veil! Andrew’s winter sweater!) and in love with Cailin & Andrew themselves. “I have had the opportunity to photograph quite a few weddings over the past five years and although little surprises me, I still love how diverse each marriage can be. In what was a first for me, I was asked by an Edmonton couple two or three months ago if I would be free to photograph their elopement…something that I’ve never done before. Why elope to Yellowknife, you may ask? Well, why not? Yellowknife held a special place in this couple’s past, and, well, we collectively as a city….rock. “ “Although the weather gods smiled upon us that day, giving us one of the nicest winter days of the year, I still had to hand it to the couple, Cailin and Andrew, as they braved the whims of a photographer bundled in long johns and a down-filled parka, ordering them (politely, mind you) to trek through snow and to lie down on the ice road, all in the name of photo fun. Check out Cailin’s shoes. Seriously tough. But I did take pity on them after a while, and suggested some studio shots to finish our time together. In short, it was a perfect day, and I felt honoured to be part of their elopement. Best of luck to you both…..! PS – If you’re wondering about the “sock” picture near the end…it’s because I made fun of Andrew and his fashion sense. Not that I can talk. My idea of fashion is a bi-annual trip to Mark’s Work Wearhouse. “
